SAN ANTONIO, Texas As part of a year-long celebration of the Ford Model T’s 100th birthday, more than 30 iconic Model T vehicles will be on display and in operation at the Texas Transportation Museum on May 17 and 18.
Families are invited to enjoy the weekend’s free events as enthusiasts from the “T Fords of Texas” and other area Model T clubs display various models ranging from sedans and town cars to ambulances and trucks. The new 2009 Ford F-150 will also be on display, providing San Antonio its first opportunity to view the yet-to-be-released vehicle.
At 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, Ford Motor Company will make a special presentation honoring the milestone. Red McCombs Automotive Group is sponsoring the event. The T’s will cruise through downtown San Antonio and past the Alamo the morning of May 18. The cars will leave the museum at 9:30 a.m. and stop at the Pig Stand Restaurant. They’ll continue their cruise past the Alamo and return to the museum by noon.
“One-hundred years ago, the Ford Model T changed the way Americans lived and enhanced the nation’s prosperity by providing a simple, affordable and reliable means of transportation,” said David Mondragon, General Manager of Ford’s Southwest Region. “Ford Motor Company views the Model T Centennial as a reminder of Henry Ford’s commitment to quality and innovation. That commitment to the consumer continues today with the production of quality vehicles that are safer, smarter, and more eco-friendly than ever before.”
