Blogger Expresses Frustration, Thankfulness Over Iraq Reporting

BERKLEY, Calif. For Jane Stillwater, it wasn’t easy being in the Green Zone.


For two weeks, this 64-year-old blogger yearned to report the goings-on as an embedded journalist in Iraq.


The U.S. military won’t state specifically why they denied her requests to step off the relatively secure base to work outside the city of Baghdad.


But Stillwater said to her Iconoclast colleague recently that “red tape” played as an excuse throughout her stay.


Undeterred, Stillwater carried on examining the situation in Iraq before her using humor and moxie.


The Iconoclast’s Nathan Diebenow spoke to Stillwater by phone to discuss her experience working in the Green Zone.
