Consumer Advocate Enters Prez Race Again — Ralph Nader Running As Independent
Ralph Nader Running As Independent
NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. Ralph Nader is running for president again.
This time the veteran consumer advocate has declared himself an independent.
Democrats still blame the former Green Party candidate for spoiling the 2000 race for then-Vice President Al Gore.
Nader, 73, says that the Democrats were inept in stopping then-Texas Gov. George W. Bush from winning the White House.
In 2004, Nader’s presidential run captured much less than the 2.7 percent of the vote he garnered in 2000.
This time Nader’s chances are much slimmer with many of his previous supporters backing one of the two popular Democrats, Sens. Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.
Nader said last week that he wants to debate Obama over his inconsistent messages.
The former first lady is on the ropes after losing 11 straight primaries in less than two weeks.
