Foreign Alliances Destroy Our Independence

Dear Editor,

The United States was fortunate to have Presidents like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson to keep us out of permanent foreign alliances. This helped the United States become the greatest nation in history. Unfortunately, 20th and 21st century presidents have entangled us in foreign wars and alliances.

Amid guarantees that the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) would stimulate commerce, spur job creation, curtail illegal immigration, and have no impact on U.S. independence, Congress approved this 1,700-page pact in 1993. This entangling alliance has more to do with NAFTA regulations rather than real free trade which requires no government interference. Go to <www.thenewamerican.com> for details.

NAFTA has been a disaster for many Americans and the independence that we once enjoyed. Rulings from NAFTA

Welles Meets Wells At Texas Radio Station

The English author of “The War of the Worlds” and the brash “boy wonder,” whose broadcast version of the book scared Americans out of their wits, met for the first and last time in San Antonio on Oct. 28, 1940.

Lecture tours brought Orson Welles and H.G. Wells to the Alamo City on the very same day, an incredible coincidence that presented a local radio station with an historic opportunity. To the station manager

Proposed Amendment 15: A Noble Attempt To Wipe-Out Cancer, Or Just Another Political Scam?

Time again to fool the voters?

Remember several years ago when Gov. Perry lobbied all around the state for the amendment to eliminate “frivolous” medical malpractice lawsuits? We were told that it will make health care more affordable. Ha-ha-ha!

“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!!!”

Perry and others want to use a General Fund to divert money into this latest cancer effort by providing tax dollars to more of the governor

A Case Of Embarrassment

A Case Of Embarrassment

The Bush administration was dealt a great embarrassment last week.

President Bush himself referred to the Richardson, Texas-based Holy Land Foundation for Relief (HLF) as a front for designated terrorists back in December 2001.

But a jury of 12 Texans thought otherwise after 19 days of deliberation in federal district court in Dallas last Monday.

In fact, the jurors were so hung up that the judge declared a mistrial and cleared one of the five defendants of all his 32 charges save one.

The prosecution tried to scare the jury into believing the defendants were illegally funding a designated terrorist organization, HAMAS, in Palestine.

Its tactics failed.

None of them worked. Not the videos showing free political speech. Not the unidentified Israeli intelligence officer who was paid to testify. Not the familial relations among one of the defendants to a HAMAS leader.

It was the U.S. government
